Who we are
Civil Trades is a certification scheme that is owned and operated by Civil
Contractors New Zealand, the national association for civil contractors, under registered trade mark.

Our postal address is PO Box 12-103, Wellington 6144.Our physical address is 21 Fitzherbert Terrace, Thorndon, Wellington 6012, New Zealand.
What personal data Civil Trades collects and why we collect it:
We collect personal information from you, including information about your:

- contact information
- billing or purchase information (note:
Personal credit card information is not held by us. We use a third party gateway provider Windcave (previously DPS) which manages personal credit card details).

We collect your personal information in order to:
- provide Civil Trades certification and continuing professional development to tradespeople
- manage Civil Trades applications
Besides our staff, we share this information with:

Civil Trades evaluators
in order to evaluate their certification, under our agreement with these evaluators.

the person's employer, where consent is provided by the person
in order to allow the employer to administrate the application. This permission is only granted for the administration of Civil Trades applications, and any use of this information beyond its intended scope — such as sharing, storing, or repurposing for activities that are unrelated to administering Civil Trades applications — is strictly prohibited and may breach privacy regulations and organisational policies under the Privacy Act 2020. If we are made aware of any use outside of this information outside of administering Civil Trades applications, administrator privileges may be revoked, and depending on the situation, further action may be taken.
The ability for employers to access application information is optional, and can be administered using the 'Employer may manage my Civil Trades applications' check box on the 'My Details' tab after logging in. This page can be accessed at https://civiltrades.co.nz/my-details/21162/.
Providing some information is optional. If you choose not to provide information that is required for the application, including contact details, we'll be unable to provide Civil Trades certification.
We keep your information safe by storing it in our database
and only allowing direct access to the data to administrators working for Civil Trades, as part of Civil Contractors New Zealand.
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold
about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
You can access any information we hold on you by logging in. If you’d like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it

Other data
Comments
When
visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the
comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent
string to help spam detection.
Media
If you upload images to the
website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data
(EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract
any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If
you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name,
email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so
that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave
another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have
an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie
to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no
personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When
you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login
information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two
days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select
“Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of
your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or
publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser.
This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID
of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles
on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images,
articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the
exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These
websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional
third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded
content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if
you have an account and are logged in to that website.
How long we retain your data
If
you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained
indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up
comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For
users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal
information they provide in their user profile. All users can see,
edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they
cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and
edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If
you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can
request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about
you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request
that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include
any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security
purposes.

If you become Civil Trades certified, your certification will be publicly notified at https://civiltrades.co.nz, on our register of certified Civil Tradespeople.
